Answer: Introduction Leadership is defined as the ability of the management to achieve and set the challenging goals, outperform various types of competition, take decisive and swift actions and inspire others to perform well. The manager of Rental NZ had to manage the part time and the full time workers. When there was chaos in the company and the workers decided to go on a strike, the manager had to find out alternative ways so as to motivate the workers and restrict them from unnecessary strikes and holidays. It is also the duty of the manager to co-ordinate with the other the staffs and the other team members so that the company can function efficiently. Discussion Leadership provides a proper direction for a company. It is the responsibility of the employees to know the direction which they must follow to reach the desired destination. Moreover, the manager must also keep a track of the work which are assigned to the workers and supervise them regularly. It can be said that the manager must also motivate the employee to learn new things and help the workers when needed. Leadership traits that will be suitable for each group of workers The three leadership traits that will work best with each group are compulsiveness, conscientiousness and tough mindedness. The manager of Rental NZ must have high sense of excellence and they must have inward desire to do the best for the company. It is the duty of the manager to motivate the employees so that they will be willing to work for the betterment of the company. The manager is logical and practical when dealing with the employees (Northouse 2015). The manager also has low sentimental attachment and they are comfortable with very kind of criticism. When the workers of the company has spread rumours, the manager tried to decided to investigate and take necessary actions upon those problems. As the workers has signed employment contract when they joined the company and they were willing to work on their rostered days, the manager had to check the rules and regulations and then sort out the problem with the employees. Self-confidence and resiliency are the most important trai ts of the manager. It is the duty of the manager to be very precise and controlled in social interaction. They are protective of the reputation and the integrity of the company and thus are trying to solve the problem. On the other hand, it is the duty and responsibility of the employees to manage and work according to the terms and policies of the company (McCleskey 2014). Communication methods The two types of communication that the manager will be used by the manager are verbal communication and non-verbal communication. The manager will use face-to-face communication in the promotion, demotion, training and other areas of the workplace. The manager can handle the task by talking to the employees and sorting out the misconceptions. This is considered important and it is the duty of the manager to co-operate with the employees. The manager will also send official letters and documents to the employees if they are not willing to work on their week off and holidays (Johnston and Marshall 2016). Moreover, it is also against the law of the company when the employees decide to go on indefinite strike. Motivation for the team members The manager can motivate each team by conducting meetings with the employees and addressing their issues. The employees can address their grievances and problems and thus the management team can take the steps accordingly and frame the respective rules. The manager can also set the goals of the employees on a weekly basis. The employees must also have a specific purpose and they must be able to understand the vision and mission of the company. Effective ways to deal with the challenges The manager of the company must try to clear the misconceptions which have arisen in the company. It is the duty of the manager to conduct meetings with the workers and understand the challenges which are faced by them. There must be proper co-ordination between the various organizations and it is the duty of the manager to keep a track of all the possible changes. When the workers decided to go on indefinite strike, the manager must conduct meetings with the team leaders and understand try to sort out the problems accordingly. Types of leadership style The five leadership style which will be used by the manager are laissez faire, autocratic, participative, transactional and transformational. The manager does not provide proper leadership or supervision efforts and thus it leads to poor production. In autocratic leadership style the manager will take the decisions alone without consulting the co-workers. However, if the manager follows participative leadership the values and the inputs provided by the team members must also be given due importance. The manager can also follow transactional leadership style and provide reward and punishments to the employees accordingly. The managers can set the pre-determined goals and the employees will follow it accordingly. The manager can also follow transformational leadership style and thus motivate the employees to increase their efficiency and productivity (Dumdum et al. 2013). Professional and ethical behavior to deal with the team It is the duty and responsibility of the manager to conduct meetings with the workers and sort of the problem. The manager must make a careful observation of the rules and regulations that are framed by the company on the basis of which the company are hired. The team leader must also co-ordinate with the entire client and assigns the jobs to the workers ethically. The contracts which are signed by the employees must also be reviewed by the manager (Antonakis 2017). Conclusion Thus, it can be said that manager must treat the clients and the stakeholders with respect regardless of their class and position in the company. It is also the responsibility of the manager to check that whether the clients are satisfied with the service. The wages of the employees must also increase according to their job position, roles and responsibilities in the company. The goals and culture of the organization also determines the leadership style which is necessary for the organization. Introduction The car rental companies tries to connect to the global community and expand their business through different channels. The rental companies are taking extra staff so speed up their grooming time. The manager of GO Rentals has highlighted that they are trying to add more vehicles so as to fulfill the demands of the customers. The company is trying to trying to increase the average period of car rentals and this will help many customers in the long run. During the period of global economic crisis, the customers demanded the rental cars for shorter period of time. There are many rental companies which are trying to operate in New Zealand but they cannot operate properly due to various reasons. Discussion Choosing the customers of the company The customers who travel to different places by hiring the cars are regarded as the diverse customer base of the company. The people earlier used to hire the car for shorter period of time but they have raised various issues and they want the company to provide them for longer duration of time. The customers of the nearest airport also hire the car for shorter duration of time. Moreover, there are certain operators of the car company who hire the car on the behalf of their company and thus provide service to their targeted customer group. The Chinese visitors who visit the country also prefer to hire the car. Moreover, the tourist who visits the country during the peak season are also the targeted customer base of the company (Hoch and Kozlowski 2014). Role of an effective leader The customers will not get the car hired if they do not book their car earlier and thus it is the duty of the manager to check the requirements of the client and deliver them proper service. The customers will not be satisfied if they do not get proper service from the company. When there is internal chaos among the workers, they will not be able to deliver proper service. In certain cases, it is seen that the customers makes a booking prior to their arrival in the airport and they do not get the proper service (House et al. 2013). As a business leader of the company, it is the duty of the manager to provide the employees with appropriate skills, tools, practice and reasons to be successful. The leaders also need to struggle and they must try to get direct response from the customers. The manager must also be clear about their expectations which they set from the employees. There are certain companies which do a fair job defining task and try to set the rewards for certain achievemen ts of the goals and objectives of the company. The manager must also try to create such an environment that fulfills the vision statement and the value proposition to the customers. Strategies used by the manager to ensure that stakeholders are treated in a professional way It is necessary to train the employees so that they follow the code of ethics of the company. The manager must carry out regular sessions on ethics and how it is important for the organization. Adequate training and resources must be provided to the employees so that they can act ethically in the organization. For example, in certain cases, there are certain employees who are working in the organization beyond their interest and they do not want to work properly for the benefit of the clients. This behavior is considered unethical and it is the duty and responsibility of the manager to keep an eye on these and reward them if they behave ethically. The managers must also try to lead the team by providing examples which are set by the management. There are also certain challenges which are to be faced by the managers and it is important to conduct regular meetings and discussions with the employees. Moreover, work life balance must also be taken into consideration and it is the duty of the employees to maintain and co-ordinate with the management (Wang et al. 2014). Role played the manager to ensure that the staffs follow the requirements It is the duty of the manager to check whether the employees are adhering to the terms and conditions as laid down in the company protocols. According to the treaty of Waitangi, this will strengthen the position of the manager and they will be considered as a part of the domestic law of the company. The rights to determine the meaning of the treaty will rest with the Waitangi Tribunal. Role played the manager to deal with the union issues When the employees threatened the management that they will go for indefinite strike, it is the duty of the manager to discuss the issue with the union body and get the problem resolved. The union members on behalf of the employees will discuss with the workers and they will try to sort out the problem with the employees. The union must try to solve the misunderstanding between the employees and the management. Demonstration of professional and ethical behaviour As a manager, there are various ways to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in the team and when dealing with the stakeholders. The manager must carry out open meeting s with the clients and he/she must take verbal actions before imposing any strict penalties. There must also be a clear understanding of the rules and regulations which were signed by the employees before joining the organization. The manager must also keep a check that the employees balance their work life and this does not affect the company. However, it is also the duty of the manager to assign task to the employees according to their expertise. They must not be forced to do anything for which they were not hired for. There must be mutual understanding and co-operation among the employees and the managers (Daft 2014). Conclusion Thus, it can be said that effective leadership is important for an organization. The organizations must trust the employees and focus on the needs and demands of the customers. The manager must also try to maintain the code of ethics so that there is mutual trust and respect among the employees. The organization must also try to change rapidly and comply with the regulatory standards and demands of the internal and the external stakeholders. It is also important to create a culture of justice within the organization with a focus on the trust of the employees.
